Tech Nation’s pride to introduce its 35 Upscale cohort businesses.

The 35 firms accepted into Tech Nation’s Upscale Growth Program for the UK’s Fastest-Growing Mid-Stage Tech Companies have been made public.

18 companies will be welcomed by upscale programme.

The businesses chosen to be a part of Upscale 8.0 operate in a variety of industries, including HR tech, energy tech, and FinTech.

This year’s Upscale programme will welcome 18 companies, 18 of which are from outside of London, and 15 of which will have at least one female founder.

Over 1,400 people work for the businesses joining Upscale 8.0, which has received close to £250 million in venture capital.

The success of these businesses is a reflection of the overall expansion of mid-stage scaling IT startups in the UK, who have raised $5.1 billion in 2022 to date, an all-time H1 record, compared to $5.6 billion in all of 2021.

The UK’s technology sector is expanding rapidly.

The UK presently has 166 digital “futurecorns” in the pipeline, according to the latest data from Dealroom and Tech Nation. Futurecorns are young, rapidly developing tech companies that are expected to be valued at $1 billion or more. This data illustrates the UK’s technology sector’s explosive growth as entrepreneurs innovate to address social, economic, and environmental problems.

The six-month, government-sponsored Upscale initiative was created to help the UK’s most promising mid-stage tech startups grow at a crucial point in their development.

Companies elected into the Upscale program will receive more than 60 hours of help at top-notch coaching sessions, conducted by more than 20 professional scale coaches. They will also attend networking events with important stakeholders, peers, corporates, and investors, and have access to a wide range of online resources, all of which are intended to address the core scaling concerns related to culture, talent, international expansion, and funding.

Upscale programme partners

For this year’s Upscale programme, Cooper Parry, Cooley, and Silicon Valley Bank will serve as programme partners.

Winnie Yan, Upscale Programme Lead at Digital Nation, expressed her joy at welcoming all of these ambitious, rapidly expanding tech scaleups to the Upscale programme this year.

“It’s fantastic to see investors taking note of the potential these tech companies have not only to scale but to transform every corner of society for the better,” says one investor. “It’s evident from their combined revenue of over £90 million the impact their innovative solutions are already having on people’s lives across so many industries.

ZeShaan Shamsi, the director of The People Collective and an Upscale 8.0 Judge, beaming with joy.

When reviewing the applications, ZeShaan Shamsi, Director at The People Collective and Upscale 8.0 Judge, said: “When I was judging the applications, I was immediately fascinated by the imaginative techniques these entrepreneurs were employing to address some serious problems. Their enthusiasm for being a member of the Upscale programme next moved me. The opportunity to acquire knowledge and participate in the Upscale community is greatly valued by scaling startups, which this incident only serves to underscore. I enjoy being a part of it as well.
